The launch party included many freebies for attendees as well as great music performance by different battle of the bands contestants. The audience was able to participate in fun games that allowed them to win a variety of prizes.
As a student, who was very unfamiliar with 90.9 The Light, I figured I would go to the event to see what it was all about. Before this event, I was not very aware of different radio stations around Lynchburg mostly because I am from out of town and simply do not know what radio stations are out there.
"I wasn't expecting much when I came to the party, but after being their for a few minutes the party blew me away and I am not an avid listener to 90.9 The Light"- Lindsay Martin
I believe that the launch party was a huge success. 90.9 The Light was trying to promote the changes that they made in their program as well as promote their new website. They are trying to reduce the amount of rap that was played and play more songs that people are familiar with.
"All they ever played was rap before but now its like a whole new radio station" - Jon Allison
Also at the party were different snowboard companies with tables set up to view their products. Among those companies were great brands like Burton, K2 and Oakley. It was an amazing opportunity for students to buy their own snowboarding gear as there are not many local stores that sell snowboarding equipment.
"I feel as if this party has made people more aware of the radio station" - Aubrey Hiddema
Ever since the party, 90.9 The Light has a been a completely different radio station that I love. They have a new website that is a huge step up from what they had before and they now have groups that you can join on facebook and follow on twitter. I am sure that 90.9 The Light is very pleased with the outcome of the event. They did a wonderful job organizing the event and I am sure that everyone is stoked to listen to their station. Good work 90.9!
